The GEN is a collection of informative articles, critiques, op-eds, and personal stories addressing contemporary issues by Generation Z. It is our online community to share stories in response to current events, and or highlight concerns that do not fall into the categories of one of our print zines. It is a place for stories and narratives that otherwise might not be told, driven by the voices of Generation Z.

The Art & Culture section explores the intersection between politics, social change, and popular culture––ranging from sports to fashion to music and film. We hope that by examining facets of contemporary culture through this critical lens, we can demonstrate how pop culture permeates all aspects of society.

The Lifestyle & Identity section hones in on the issues that impact our day to day lives, and the cultural forces at play. Ranging from topics such as mental and sexual health to issues occurring on college campuses, this section examines the systems and institutions that sculpt daily life.

Our News & Politics section is designed to make our nation’s governance accessible, understandable, and interesting to our generation. We grew up as the children of 9/11, school shootings, the Great Recession, and mass media. We ensure that our awareness and activeness is met with the  information it needs to make powerful change in our country and world. We cover the pulse of current events as they are relevant to Gen Z.

We have less than 10 years to radically reduce global emissions to save earth from insurmountable and irreversible damage. But it also goes beyond the next decade––we must foster a long term view of responsibility. Inheriting a dying planet has been an intergenerational injustice, and we will not pass it down to the next without doing something about it.
